Squad takes shape

Paulton manager Nick Bunyard has wasted no time in continuing his preparations for next season.

Delighted to announce 3 new signings. Kris Miller and Nick McCootie join from Cinderford and Dave Stone rejoins the club from Yate Town.

Kris has been on the radar since 'Bunny' watched him last pre season whilst he was at Frome. He will offer pace, a cutting edge in wide areas and with him and Ben Lacey on the flanks Rovers should create plenty of chances.

Bunyard said 'Nick is another lad we've monitored for some time and were keen on bringing to the club around Christmas time last year but he was highly regarded by Cinderford.

He is a striker who can also play off the front man, he's quick, powerful, skillful and will fit in well with the way we play.

Both lads have good attitudes and a winning mentality so I'm pleased to have prised them away from Cinderford as they have a lot of time for the manager Steve Peters and have enjoyed their time at the club.

Dave rejoins us from Yate where he made an immediate impact after signing from us late last season. Dave only spent a month with us and struggled for fitness, following his move to the area from the West Midlands, as we were doing well and he was on the bench a lot. He is a very talented player with bags of ability and once he's fit will be a real asset to us as he proved at Yate during the short time he was there.'

'James Billings has also committed his future to the club which is great news as he was outstanding for us in his first full season in the Southern League and will improve a lot from the experience he gained last year.

We are close to securing one or two more signings and with those we should be very well set for the season ahead and go into it full of optimism.'

Nick Bunyard was delighted to confirm Ben Lacey is staying. Nick said 'Ben had a very good offer to join Frome Town in the league above, but he have managed to convince him Paulton is where his future is. He is an exciting talent and on his day is completely unplayable at this level so we are obviously delighted to retain his services. My job is to try and get him to play consistently at the level we know he's capable of. It's a great boost for the lads as Ben could be vital to our ambitions this year.

They join Ben Lacey, Marcus Mapstone, Craig Loxton, Scott Brice, Kyle Phillips, Stuart Tovey, Steve Bridges, Josh Jeffries and Dan Cleverley who have all agreed terms for the new season.

'Many of last year's squad have been targeted by our local rivals, so it is pleasing to have so many on board to date' idicated Bunyard as he continues to chat through his plans with players.
