Rovers denied FA Cup Victory by Goalkeeping Masterclass.

Paulton came to rue a 45 th minute penalty miss as Basingstoke won with two second half goals.

Charlie Kennedy fired over for the home side with Ben Prictor making his Rovers debut having a shot blocked.

Ryan Gay beat the offside trap and his effort was turned for a corner by Dragons keeper Colm McAdden, then he was alert again as Joe Hillard tested him at his near post.

With half time approaching Jamie Laird was pushed after Dale Evans'corner but Ben Withey spot kick was well saved by McAdden.

Town came out more determined and Sam Smart's deflected shot was held by Paulton keeper Rob Brown.

McAdden again saved from first Withey, then Gay, before a lose ball was picked up by Zidan Akers who ran on and hit a fierce shot which took a wicked deflection to loop over Brown to give the hosts the lead.

As Rovers pushed for an equaliser another misplaced past was fastened onto by sub Jack McKnight and Sam Deadman was at hand to turn the ball home.

Brown made a late save from George Bennett leaving Paulton disappointed with that penalty miss.
