It was the first cup game of the season for both teams and both sets of players started the game well, showing lots of desire to win the ball.
It was Paulton who took the lead early on through Blaine Lawrence, an indirect free kick 6 yards out.
After the break the home side came out playing at high tempo and pressing high up the pitch. They were rewarded 10 minutes into the second half after a loose ball was slotted home from close-range.
The visitors then changed shape to try and counteract the high press.
Eventually Paulton started to release the pressure and found themselves creating a few more chances.
15 minutes from time, Lawrence showed great determination to get himself on the scoresheet again making the score 2-1 to the visitors.
During the last ten minutes of the game, Chard were looking to get the upper hand again and push numbers forward.
A Fantastic save from Sean Salter in the Paulton goal saved the day as the game finished 2-1 to Paulton.
