10 men Rovers into semi finals

Paulton overcame a good and youthful Clevedon side to enter the Somerset Premier Cup semi final despite having full back Camen Harvey been shown a red card on 57 minutes.

The home side went into a third minute lead as Will Mann crossed for Alex Camm to thump the ball home from close range.

Dale Evans and Ryan Gay tested Clevedon keeper Sam Blackiston, whilst his opposite number Adam Forster was alert to prevent the hosts increasing their lead.

Paulton levelled on 21 minutes as Ben Withey flighted a ball for Sam Jordan to chest into the path of Evans to run on and slot home.

Forster made two valuable saves in sucessive minutes from Lucas Volwes and Camm.

On the restart Volwes missed an absolute sitter with the goal at his mercy, then Forster pulled off a great save tipping a fierce drive by full back Syd Camper onto the post and gave his defence a chance to clear.

Camen Harvey was shown a red card after putting a hand on Camm who he accused of diving in the area. An issue without dispute but his reaction was unnecessary as the referee appeared to notice although Camm was not shown a yellow card.

Forster was again on hand to prevent Camm and that good fortune lead up to Rovers taking the lead, as Evans spread a quick free kick out on the left to Gay who played a one two with Jordan which Gay hit low into the net.

As Clevedon pressed to level, Liam Monelle nearly got in behind the home defence to increase Rovers lead.

Back to league action at home to Fleet Town on Saturday kick off 3-00 pm. Preview late on Friday.
