Poor game ends in Thatcham win

Two poor teams and some questionable officiating left Thatcham with the points with Rovers losing for the seventh successive game.

A scrappy first half saw Trey Anderson head wide for Rovers as Thatcham responded with a 25 yard free kick from Tom Melledew well defended by the Paulton rearguard.

Rovers saw a flowing move involving Lewis Dix, Jack Ball and Nev Nzembela with Ball firing wide.

Former Rovers player Kyle Tooze was causing problems and following a corner on 43 minutes a melee ensued and Tooze thought his close range shot had crossed.
the line bringing brilliant save from Paulton teenage keeper Adam Forster.

On the stroke of half time Zakin Akers broke down. The left and his lob hit Forster's cross bar.

The second half did not fare much better though Liam Monelle brought a save from Wood then Tooze crossed and Akers hit the bar.

The Kingfisher scored the only goal on 66 minutes as a long ball caused confusion in the Rovers defence and Tooze stroked the ball past Forster.

Both sides huffed and puffed with little effect although Akers drove wide and Ball gave an easy to Wood. To compound Paulton's afternoon left back Ben Withey was red carded for foul language
