Rovers overcome determined Radstock

Paulton eased into the 3rd round of the Somerset Premier Cup after overcoming a battling Radstock side.

The Miners keeper Jack Scrivens was alert to hold a Ben Withey shot and in response Morgan Skipp shot over the bar.

With both sides testing each other Mitch Tippins headed over Ben Prictor's cross as Rovers pressed whilst Sam Gregory's cross eluded the lively Skipp.

As the second half got underway Paulton left back Ben Prictor raiding down the wing brought another save from Scrivens.

Substitute Ryan Gay made an immediate impact on 61 minutes running onto Prictor's cross to score with his first touch of the match.

Skipp' shot four minutes later was clear of the line by Charlie Hitchings then a minute later Skipp's volley hit the crossbar.

Rovers however broke at the other end on 68 minutesfrom keeper Rob Brown's goal kick flicked on by Gay allowing Withey to cut in from left and beat Scrivens with a low shot to make it 2-0.

Man of he match Morgan Skipp again saw his shot parried by Brown who collected at the second attempt.

Radstock pulled a goal back in superb style with five minutes left with sub Corey Rawlings running from the half way line and coolly curling from twenty five yards giving a Brown no chance.

A minute later in an identical move Rawlings curler clipped the ball and it then rolled across the goal mouth and thankfully for Paulton rolled out for a goal kick.
