Plucky Paulton lose semi final tie

In this Somerset Premier Cup semi final tie Rovers went down despite one of the best performances in the last month which saw17 year old youth team player Ali Sen making his first start after a number of substitute appearances for Paulton who made a bright start.

Left back Ben Withey drifted past three Weston player to fire a shot narrowly wide.

Weston's 6'8'' defender was spreading the ball around and he started the move that gave his side a 21st minute lead as he found left back Jack Goodall who laid the ball into Jarred Welch who fired home from 25 yards.

Rovers should have had a penalty on 42 minutes as Nev Nzembela chased a long ball and was taken out by Seagulls keeper Luke Purnell and to the dismay of the travelling support referee Adam Penwell waved play on.

Dale Evans and Sen were putting in good performances whilst keeper Adam Forster twice thwarted the home striker Jamie Lucas.

From the restart Paulton threatened and on 49 minutes they levelled from the penalty spot as Sen was brought down by Tom Harrison and Evans sent Purnell the wrong way.

Forster again saved well from Lucas and then Mitch Tippins saw his deflected shot sail over Purnell's crossbar.

The Seagulls regained the lead on 73 minutes a Welch played in substitute George Nurse who faced on to shoot passed Forster.

Nzembela was coming in for some harsh physical attention as the Yeovil Town loanee lead the visitors front line. A long clearance by Purnell was chased by Jake Lee and as Forster narrowed his angle he scuffed his shot wide.

In the final minutes Jason Pope missed a golden chance to increase the lead and then Forster saved well from Welch.
