Paulton win derby finale

Paulton Rovers Under 18's travelled to West Clewes to take on Welton Rovers in an eagerly anticipated local derby, the match being both Teams final League game of the current season.
Paulton were looking to put the record straight, following a 5-2 defeat inflicted on them by Welton Rovers earlier in the season, a game in which Paulton Rovers were well below par.
On a fine dry evening and in front of a healthy crowd, both Teams battled well, but disappointingly in the first half Paulton were unable to make their dominance count and healthy possession and numerous chances were not taken.
Paulton were dealt a blow on 25 minutes, when the influential Josh Collins was forced to leave the field.
Half time 0-0.
Paulton started the second half well, again pushing for the opening goal and they were quickly rewarded when a long range drive from Jack Francis beat the Welton keeper George Abbott.
The game then again evened out and Ashley Thick in the Paulton goal made two smart saves to keep Rovers lead in tact.
Full time 1-0 to Paulton Rovers.

All involved with Paulton Rovers Under 18's were left to reflect on a season where much more should have been achieved, with the League Title and promotion well within their grasp.
Inconsistancies in a number of games certainly cost the lads, who fell six points short of winning the League, finishing third.

The Presentation Night date is still to be set and a confirmed date will follow shortly.

Congratulations from the Under 18's to our First Team,- Nick, Paul, Josh and the lads, who have superbly secured promotion to the Southern League Premier Division, well done boys !!!
