Another win for Rovers

A workman like performance from Paulton overcame a strong Keynsham side who are newly promoted into the Western League Premier.

In the 3rd minute Ed Butcher saw his dipping free kick turned over the bar by the home keeper.

The 3G pitch saw fast inter weaving passes from both sides and Butcher started a move involving Ryan Gay and Ben Bament before former Bristol City trainee Eli Nichols shot wide.

Paulton grabbed what proved to be the only goal of the game, as youngster Mason Harrison won a corner on the right and Butcher's perfectly in swinging cross was headed home by Gay on 41 minutes.

A minute later Keynsham should have levelled as striker Craig Wilson missed a sitter in front of goal.

Within five minutes of the restart Rovers should have added a second as Butcher found Gay and his low cross saw Bament get insufficient contact.

Paulton keeper Joe Perry was alert to turn shots from Wilson then Matt Brown for corners and from the latter, former Street defender Matt Grist saw his header kicked off the line by Ali Sen.

Rovers captain Craig Allan headed wide from Gay's cross whilst in reply Perry was again alert to push away two shots from sub Luke Banfield who impressed having stepped up from Keynsham's youth team.

Paulton travel to Salisbury on Wednesday 31 July kick off 7-45 pm with manager John Rendell seeking at least one more friendly before the league season starts on Saturday 17 August.
