Liam Monelle had chance for Paulton on 8 minutes firing wide. Then James Byrne started a move with Josh Morgan Williams and Byrne looked certain to score but drove over the bar.
Yate had a great chance two minutes later as Nick Peace' s free kick was parried away by keeper George Burton and Matt Tanner missed the target following up.
On the half hour Yate stopper Harvey Rivers was alters to tip away Morgan Williams in swinging free kick.
Rivers drove a long free kick finding Ross Langworthy who tried to lob Burton only to see the ball sail over the bar.
Paulton broke down the right winning a corner on the right taken left footed by Josh Cann and the ball was turned home to give his side the lead.
Rovers were on top and added a second on 79 minutes as another Cann corner was headed home by Joe Guest.
Mitch Tippins was running midfield with Guest and Paulton looked to add to the tally as sub Omar Simpson cross for Morgan Williams to head narrowly wide.
Burton kept a deserved clean sheet saving well from Charlie Hutchins to snuff out any late danger.
