Left winger Ed Butcher shot narrowly wide and Craig Allan headed over as Rovers sought to add to their tally.

The Stags levelled on ten minutes as a loose ball found it way to Callum Townsend and his superb low strike gave Paulton keeper Joe Perry no chance.

Bament was showing a lot of thrust up front linking with the Trialist and Butcher drove a cross shot that hit the post with Coombes beaten.

In response, Townsend’s cross was met by veteran Charlie Rich whose shot was blocked. Ten years ago Rich was Paulton left back in the era when they played Norwich City in the televised first round of the FA Cup.

Rovers made it 2-1 on 44 minutes. Youngster left back Ali Sen who was having an impressive game was fouled. Butcher's fre kick was headed back across goal by Gay and Joe Hillard headed home.

The second half saw numerous substitutions by both sides and twice Butcher was on target first hitting the crossbar then at the foot of the left hand post.

Ashton & Backwell look a good Western Lesgue side with central defender Charlie Saunders looking a good prospect.

The hosts saw a glaring miss as Saul Jarrett miskicked as he looked likely to score.

Trialists twice shot wide and Bament stung the keepers hand then Rovers had a goal disallowed as Hillard broke down the right and Trialist fired home only to ruled offside.

The Stags Last match result was a 3-2 defeat by an impressive Weston Super Mare, so for Paulton boss John Rendell this was an excellent workout ahead of a very tough trip to face Welsh Premier League side Penybont in Bridgend on Saturday.
