ODD DOWN 3 v 2 PAULTON ROVERS

Holders Paulton went out of the Somerset Premier Cup at Odd Down after leading 2-0.

The first period saw a flurry of half chances on a bobbly pitch making flowing football difficulty and ball control equally hard.

Rovers took the lead on fifteen minutes when Saul Williams won a challenge with keeper Mannings and the ball sailed into the net.

Williams found Josh Jeffries only to see his shot deflected for a corner.

'The Downer's' playing three up front looked threatening going forward and Ibrahim Saar's low free kick was well saved by Rovers keeper Kyle Phillips low to his left hand post.

Paulton having replaced Ryan Batten with Dan Cleverley at half time lost striker Ryan Bath three minutes after the break when he was injured in a tackle with Brandon Barnes on as substitute.

Mike Perrot, Ben Lacey and Dean Evans all went close to increasing Rovers lead which eventually came in the sixty first minute. Lacey breaking down the right wing his low pass inside saw Evans shot blocked falling to Perrott who tucked the ball home with a firm drive from the edge of the penalty area.

Odd Down sought to get back into the game and there was increasingly techy and inconsistent officiating from Premier League assistant Mr Ganfield as he booked Scott Brice and Jeffries appealing over a throw in that should have gone their way.

Seconds after the bookings Cleverley was harshly adjudged to have fouled Kye Simpson. Ben Hunt scored from the penalty with eleven minutes remaining.

Six minutes later Odd Down leveled as Hunt cross from the left and Brad Norris headed the ball home.

With extra time looming Adnam Hiroli hit a long through ball and Ruaridh Kay raced on to the ball to lob Phillips from 25 yards to give the Bath based side victory and a semi final trip to Frome Town.
