A very impressive Port Talbot Town showed the level that Rovers have to progressed to as the Welsh Premier league side ran out winners in Paulton's last friendly before the Southern league premier season starts on Saturday.
Liam McCreath hit a sharp drive wide and on three minutes opened the scoring for the visitors. Corey Thomas crossed from the right and Martin Rose headed goal wards only for McCreath to nip in and flick the ball passed trialist Carl Crabtree.
Rovers hit back and Brandon Barnes ran on only to trod on the ball. Then Ollie Knowles free kick was headed powerfully by Scott Brice and well held by visiting keeper Steven Cann.
Both sides were competing and creating chances and Josh Klein-Davies hit a half volley narrowly over the bar with Cann beaten. Then on thirty eight minutes Klein-Davies rushed through for Paulton, but the former Welsh under 19 international agonisingly hit the inside of the post and the ball was cleared.
As half time approached an altercation between Rovers Jon Davies and 'The Steelman's' Casey Thomas resulted in referee Rick Hulme sending both players off.
Within two minutes of the restart Corey Thomas fasten on to the ball running on from right back to thump the ball past Crabtree to make it 2-0.
The Welshmen made a host of substitutes but continued to look the better side as Paulton desperate to pull a goal back saw shots from Knowles, Klein-Davies and Mike Bryant.
Klein-Davies created a great chance after eighty two minutes turning and testing reserve keeper Steve Hall.
Unfortunately Town player Luke Prosser suffered a shoulder injury and received very good treatment at Paulton Hospital.
With four minutes left Luke Borrelli collected the ball and struck a sublime strike passed Crabtree to make it 3-0.
Paulton manager Nick Bunyard is hoping Nick McCootie will be back in the next few weeks and is looking to strengthen in several areas as his side moves to the business end of the season.
Having said that this was a very good Welsh side who deserved the victory three weeks away from the start of their season.
