BATH CITY 0 v 2 PAULTON ROVERS

Paulton knocked out a weakened Bath City side to gain a place in the Somerset premier Cup semi final.

Rovers also played a number of players challenging for a first team place and dominated a dour first half.

Mike Bryant fired wide and Bristol City loan Liam Monelle making his first start for Paulton was lively upfront with Mitchell Page.

The best of chances came in the final minutes when Brandon Barnes won a corner on the left which was played in by youngster Tyson Pollard. Bryant headed against the post from the rebound Page's shot was blocked and following up Jordan Walker drive was cleared.

Rovers took the lead on 56 minutes as Barnes picked the ball up in midfield threaded a sweet pass to Page who held of veteran 'Roman' defender Jim Rollo to beat Josh Barrington in the home goal.

Rob Brown deputising for the suspended Paulton stopper Kyle Phillips was rarely troubled as his side controlled the pace of the game. Skipper Scott Brice and his central defensive partner Shayne Anson broke up several City moves.

It was no surprise when they made it 2-0 on 67 minutes with a superb move. Barnes was fouled and Pollard took a quick free kick to send Monelle down the right wing and from the byline crossed for Page to nod the ball into the net.

Pollard twice had clear chances to added to the tally and Monelle saw the ball run away from him after an inch perfect thirty yard cross by sub Omar Lindsay.

Late on Chris Allen tested Brown who saved easily.
