PAULTON ROVERS 3 v 3 MELKSHAM TOWN

A lively match from start to finish ended with honours even.

Rovers keeper Tom Palmer slickly tipped a cracking drive from Gary Higdon over his bar. From the corner the referee awarded a penalty but it looked as if the ball was handled by a Melksham Town
player. Higdon converted to give the visitors the lead on 11 minutes.

Three minutes later Rovers were awarded a spot kick after Omar Simpson was dragged down by Warren Maidment and James Byrne scored the spot kick.

Rob Brown then saved smartly from Simpson's shot.

Paulton went ahead on 25 minutes as Simpson turned on Camen Harvey's lob to beat Brown.

Melksham equalised two minutes after the break as Shaun Bennison headed home after Luke Ballinger and Ben Thompson set up the chance.

Ballinger put the visitors ahead on 55 minutes turning home Higdon's cross.

With six minutes left Simpson levelled for Rovers turning to drive past Brown from the edge of the penalty area.

The next planned friendly is at home to Frome Town on Tuesday 1 August K-O 7-30 p.m. with the final friendly the following Saturday when we welcome Rhondda based Wales League division one side Ton Pentre K-O 3-00 p.m.

Meanwhile in the 1st round of the Somerset Premier Cup Paulton have been drawn away to Portishead Town in the week commencing 9 October.
