Debutant defender Jordy Nkunga made a great tackle to stop Banbury striker Ady Talabi. The former St Neots player now a student at Hartpury college went on to be man of the match.
Phillips and Bedwell both pulled off number of saves.
Davies cut from the left on the hour only to shoot wide. Jordan Green for The Puritans was a handful well marshaled by Ben Lacey playing left back on return from injury.
Paulton had a goal disallowed when Mike Bryant was adjudged offside.
Late on Davies cross from left was met with a point blank header from Bryant brilliantly saved twice by Bedwell.
