PAULTON ROVERS 0 v 0 NEOTS TOWN

(Aside) The match ball sponsor Somer Valley 97.5 FM nominated today's guests and mascots Midsomer Norton Primary U11's to present the man of the match award to Rovers captain Scott Brice.

Paulton entertained Cambridgeshire side St Neots Town in a hard fought draw that ended scoreless.

Despite the lack of goals this was a hard fought competitive match which could have gone either way.

Kyle Phillips brought a fine save from striker Nathan Frater as St Neots pressed only for Rovers to respond with shots from Jon Davies and Dean Evans well held by veteran keeper Paul Bastock.

Frater headed over and then saw his next chance deflected for a corner.

Paulton built well in midfield and Ashley Williams nearly found Scott Wilson whilst Adam Tann headed wide for the visitors.

On 32 minutes Nathan Frater received a straight red card for leading with his elbow into Rovers left back Sam Teale.

The Saints defended in numbers as Davies and Brandon Barnes attacked down the wings.

Bastock was on hand to prevent Paulton from gaining the upper hand. Tann hit the foot of the post with what appeared a miss hit drive with Phillips beaten.

Ryan Frater made a last ditch tackle to stop Wilson and the Rovers captain Scott Brice marshalled his defence as St Neots went through there best passage with Drew Roberts and sub Theo Davis seeing chances held by Phillips.

Barnes hit a free kick over the bar, but Roberts and sub Ben Mackey both should have done better as they sought to snatch all three points for the long trip home.
