BANBURY UNITED 0 v 1 PAULTON ROVERS

Paulton won at Banbury United to move up to tenth place.

The swerling wind and bouncy pitch made it difficult for both sides to find their measure and Paulton grabbed a winner five minutes from time to take all three poionts back to Somerset.

Rovers had tthe first clear chance on 11 minutes when Mitchell Page won a header and Scott Wilson split the home defence for Page to race onto the ball only to shoot wide.

A minute later Jon Davies started a move involving Page and Wilson to fire the ball into the net, but was ruled out for offside.

Banbury pressed and Kynan Isaac's dangerous cross was cut out by Rovers central defender Shayne Anson.

The home side had a great chance on 27 minutes as Carl Tappin broke down the left and tried to lob Kyle Phillips however the ball swirlled narrowly wide.

Paulton left back Sam Teale was on hand to head a threatening free kick from Hicham Abdellah and his captain Scott Brice was marshalling his troops to prevent any danger from the Oxfordshire side.

In the first minute of the second half Marvin Martin running down the 'Puritan's' left hit a volley wide of Phillips goa.

Both sides huffed and puffed as the game surged from end to end without any real threat and defences on top.

Davies was now showing why many league clubs are monitoring ther Paulton winger. On 73 minutes his free kick nearly caught out United's keeper Luke Bedwell.

Banbury up their play only from the Rovers defence to mop up any threat as they hit a series of high balls easy caught by Phillips.

With five minutes left of normal time young Bristol City loanee Liam Monelle on as sub broke across the ball found teale whose low driving was superbly tipped over the bar by the diving Bedwell.

Davies took the resultant corner on the right and Teale runiing from the left met the ball with a firm header that sailed past Bedwell into the net to seal the result for Nick Bunyard's side.

There was still time for man of the match Teale to make a great last ditch tackle to stop Darius Browne firing a shot towards the Paulton goal.
