PAULTON ROVERS 1 v 1 CAMBRIDGE CITY

Paulton welcomed another former Conference side Cambridge City for 'The Lilywhite's' visit to Winterfield Road for what was the club's first ever meeting.

Heavy rain failed to spoil the best endeavours of both sides tried to play neat football with Cambridge having the better possession.

Rovers keeper Kyle Phillips was tested by Buster Harradine and Josh Dawkins before Brandon Barnes cross was turned home by Scott Wilson who was ruled offside.

A cross from the right by Iueun Lewis was met by Danny Kelly whose flicked header was well saved low down by Phillips.

Paulton took the lead on 24 minutes after a long cross from the right by Jon Davies eluded 'The Lilywhite's' defence the ball falling to Barnes who thumped the ball passed Jamie Head.

City pressed hard down the right through captain Lewis working well with former Republic under 19 player Kelly shooting wide.

The second half saw City dominate for long period but both side guilty of misplaced passes.

Davies had a shot parried by Head and Wilson had another effort rightly disallowed again for offside.

Clayton Green marking his Paulton debut with a sound performance in the centre of midfield.

Striker Chris Bacon should have leveled on the hour heading wide with the goal at his mercy.
Three minutes later they did making it 1 1 when Lewis's deep cross was headed home by an unmarked Bacon.

With conditions getting increasingly boggy and legs tiring a draw was a fair outcome.
