Paulton travelled to Weymouth and came unstuck after taking an early lead. Ben Bament dribbled down the right wing winning a corner. Aaron Brown swung the ball in from the right, which was met by left back, Sam Teale, who thumped home past ‘The Terra’s player manager and ex Rovers keeper Jason Matthews.

Stewart Yetton broke down the right and his cross was caught by Rovers keeper Ben John and he was tested again moments later when former Paulton man Dean Evans headed wide.

On the half hour Toby Osman was caught in possession and Yetton’s cross was blocked by Teale.

Adam Kelly threatened on several occasions driving two long range shots in quick succession. Then he took a pass from Matt Cooper and his shot although deflected was held safely by John.

Three minutes from the break Evans cross was cut out by right back Alex Grimshaw, but his heavy touch fell to Yetton who played the ball to Kelly down the left and he laid the ball back to Yetton who had the simple task of scoring.

On 49 minutes Mitchell Page won a header and Bament chased the ball fired goal ward to bring a fine save from Matthews.

Grimshaw conceded a corner from which there was a chaotic melee of shots saved by John from Yetton, Kelly and Jordan Corp until Shayne Anson cleared for the visitors.

Weymouth took the lead on 59 minutes as Kelly broke in to the box and was tripped by Grimshaw. Corp tucked home the penalty.

Four minutes later more misfortune for Grimshaw as he again clipped Kelly and once again Corp converted from the spot kick.

Teale narrowly headed wide as sub Cameron Brown and Page combined to cross as Paulton sought to get back in the game. Then Aaron Brown hit a free kick easily held by Matthews.

There was a lengthy hold up as George Rigg fell awkwardly and after treatment limped off the pitch to be replaced by Conor Jevon.

After the resumption on 83 minutes Jevon’s first act was to try a 25 yard shot, which had a wicked deflection to take the ball past John to make it 4-1.

There was still time for Rovers skipper Scott Brice to head over Aaron Brown’s free kick and Teale to see his drive saved by Matthews. Then Page set up young sub Marley Thomas, but he miss hit his attempted shot on goal.
