Larkhall Athletic dominated the first half and deservadly went in two up but Paulton hit back with two quick goal on the restart.
Jay Adams saw his header clear off the line on 9 minutes by Rovers debutant left back Sam Stoppard with the youth team captain making his first Southern League start.
Jamie Lyons opened the scoring for the visitors on 18 minutes after his first shot rebounded back to him and he fired across Paulton keeper Keiron Hodges and into the net.
Adams was proving a treat down the right and he involved in the second Lark's goal on 35 minutes as his cros found Josh Egan turned the ball to Joe Tumelty who scored from close range.
Rovers scored on 46 minutes as Ryan Radford threaded through to Jake Mawford whose shot was parried by ex Rovers keeper Ben John and Elliott Gibbons was first to react to score.
It was level thrre minutes later as mawford right wing corner was met by a bullet header from skipper Josh Ford with the assistance of the underside of the bar to beat John.
Both sides had chances as Tumelty and Lyons wasted chances for Larkhall and Kailan Gould saw a low shot held by John.
Gould laid a pass to Andrew Elcock for the sub to fire wide. Then the youngster was through as John saved bravely at his feet.
In the dying minutes Tumelty twice brough a fine save from Hodges and Ben Brooks blasted wide
