Rovers undone on wet day in Oxford.

New Paulton signing Kyle Knott was drafted straight into the starting line-up as Manager John Rendell opted for a 3-5-2 formation against Kidlington .

With the rain pouring down chances were few and far between in the first half as both sides struggled to take the initiative.

A good passing move by Rovers on the 28th minute ended with Dale Evans crossing from the right only to see it deflected just behind for a corner.

With the first real chance of the game, Kidlington took the lead on 35 minutes after good work down the left hand side resulted a cross across goal which reached the far post and was tucked home by Kidlington's no. 9, Anaclet Odhiambo.

Soon after the goal an early sub was required for Paulton with James Byrne replacing the injured Camen Harvey.

As in previous games, Rovers came out strong in the second half and almost got the equaliser with Kailan Gould whipping in a great cross onto the head of Jo Guest which just flashed past the post.

With Rovers hunting for the equaliser the game began to open up and after Rovers keeper Sesay struggled to clear the ball from the edge of his box, Anaclet Odhiambo advanced through on goal and slotted the ball into the bottom corner for his, and Kidlington's second.

On 79 minutes, Kidlington put the game to bed as left back Tommy Castle sped down the left flank, pulled the ball back to the edge of the box where recently introduced sub, Lewis Coyle hammered the ball home with a powerful shot.

Paulton conitnued to push for at least a consolation goal and the tireless Kailan Gould almost got it with a left foot thunderbolt that was destined for the top corner until a slight deflection from a Kidlington head sent the ball crashing against the bar.

Rovers will be looking to get back to winning ways on Tuesday night at home to Magnotsfield. Kick-off 7.30pm.
