Paulton gained a well earned point pushing runaway league leaders Taunton Town all the way on a snowy evening under the lights at Winterfield Road.
Rovers were at it right from kick-off and took the lead after just 5 minutes when Josh Morgan-Williams was brought down in the box after jinking past three Taunton defenders before giving the referee no option but to point to the spot. Dale Evans stepped up cool as a cucumber and slotted the penalty home sending the Taunton keeper the wrong way.
8 minutes later the undoubted moment of the match came when Rovers got their second thanks to an Omar Simpson wonder goal. The ball was floated into Simpson 35 yards out who, with his back to goal took the ball on his thigh, swivelled and unleashed an unstoppable volley into the corner past a motionless Taunton keeper.
The away team, who are unbeaten on the road this season came out in the second half looking for a way back in to the game but Rovers were looking assured at the back and were rarely troubled until a crazy 3 minute spell starting on the 75th minute got Taunton level.
Pushed up from the back, it was Taunton's Keith Emmerson at the double, firstly with a deflected shot past Hannah and then in the 78th minute shooting home at the far post.
In an open last 10 minutes both sides were looking for the winner and it was Rovers who almost got it at the death when Monelle broke free in the 7th minute of added time, took aim from 18 yards out only to see his shot gathered by the keeper.
