Rovers downed in poor game

It would be great to announced that this was a great top of the table game brings as second placed Cirencester Town facdedRovers who are fifth.

However two sides did not produce any quality and the officials were just a poor in their decision making leaving many Paulton supporters wishing the referee Mr Foster had not made the journey from Portsmouth.

A first half highlighted by two great saves firstly by Glyn Garner from Rovers Josh Klein-Davies and by the home keeper Kyle Phillips turning Joe Shepherd's close rang effort for a corner when it loooked as if the Cirencester man had an easy chance to score.

Paulton twice had half chances first when Phillips long goal kick was headed down by klein-davies and brandon |Barnes blasted over the crossbar and then Mike Perrott won a midfield tackle to send Luke Ballinger goal bound only to shoot over the bar.

Cirencester constanly played the long high ball and in the thirty second minute it paid off when Steve davies broke down the right and his cross was bundled home by Lee Smith to give the Centurion's a 1-0 lead.

Rovers should have levelled six minutes into the second period when Perrott raced clear cross to Ballinger who blasted wide when he looked odds on to score.

Frustration was setting in and McCootie looking to have clearly won the ball was somehow adjudged to have fouled Leigh Henry and shown a yellow and in the subsequent protests Ballinger was also booked.

Paulton were denied a seemingly certain penalty when Perrott was brought down in the box by Mark Pritchett who along with his colleague seemed resigned to his faith. Not to Mr Foster who oblivious to the events waived play on.

Rovers pressed hard to the end, but the points went back to Gloucestershire and Mr Foster, it's thought went in a different direction.
