Paulton were left to rue their umpteen missed chances as Shortwood United go through.

Wood keeper George Burton was alert to save with his foot from Dave Sims after set up by Joe Hillary and Jack Ball.

However the visitors took a 21 minute lead after Liam Meredith tapped in after Rovers keeper AJ Sesay saved from Jordan Morris.

They added to the score after 32 minutes with a slick passing move finished off by Jack Freeman.

Paulton pulled a goal back four minutes later as Ball set up Liam Monelle who crashed home a shot from 25 yards giving Burton no chance.

On the restart Ball missed a golden chance as his header went wide. Then Monelle brought to saves from Burton.

He then had a shot deflected as Rovers and sub Kailan Gould added to the attack.

Paulton looked to have levelled as first Sims then Ball only had to tap with Wood blocking on the line.

Morris missed two chances on the break narrowly passed the post. Sesay went up for two late corners and headed wide as he looked to repeat his scoring feat.

Gould fired in several chances as Rovers could not convert any of their seventeen second half chances.
