Paulton start with a win REPORT BY WAYNE ROBERTS

Kicking down the slope on the Westfield ground Paulton started tentatively, stray passes and missed tackles. It wasn’t long though before they settled down and got into the game. Still not perfect, Paulton found themselves being able to get in behind the opposition defence with Lewis Harrison causing problems.

Paulton should’ve been 3 up within the first 15 minutes but it was only 1 as Aaron Whittock scored with what can only be described as a soft shot that hit the post and back in off the keeper.

On 18 minutes Chilcompton levelled when keeper Simon Chivers mispunched a cross to the feet of the attacker who scored from distance.

It was 2-1 to chilly when JonFiler gave away a penalty.

Paulton brought Farr on at the start of the 2nd half to try and inject a little more bite into the attack and this worked for a while but it wasn’t until they brought on young Bryant in mid field that the game started to turn. He was pressing higher up the field which caused chilly problems.

Paulton then changed to a 4-4-2 formation and began to look more comfortable and fresh legs via substitutions helped.

It was on 54 minutes when Paulton levelled when Bryant scored with a shot to the keepers right, he then put Rovers in the lead on 63 minutes with a similar shot, this time to the keepers left.

Both teams then pressed to score but it ended with Paulton being victorious in the first Mid Somerset League game.
