Following major surgery and after much deliberation, Dave Bissex has decided to resign from his roles as Chairman, Director & Trustee to concentrate on his health and continued recovery which is going to take longer than originally envisaged.

The Directors and Management team wishes to thank Dave for all his dedication, efforts and contributions to the club over a 53 year period, of which 36 as Football Chairman, and wishes him well with his recovery. We hope to see him back at the club watching football in the near future.

In the interim, Paul Rowlands (Social Chairman) will take on the role of Football Chair.

Dave said on his time at Paulton Rovers:

"I think it all started in the early 70s when I was running a Sunday side at the Somerset Inn. Paulton Rovers advertised for a Sunday side to use the pitch at £5 a week; that’s how long ago it was! So we took that on board and we moved to Paulton Rovers for Sunday morning in the Frome Sunday league.

After a short while we decided to run it as Paulton Rovers Social Club and at that time Keith Simmons the secretary asked if I would join the committee which I did. The following year I asked "were we okay to continue with the pitch" and he asked me if I would take on the Football Treasure’s role from Bill Luker who was ageing himself. I did that for a number of years and in 1991 when Barry Lewis resigned as Football Chairman, I took over that role and continue that to date.

I also joined the board of the Southern League in 2009 and served for 15/16 years until we were relegated to the Western League two seasons ago. I have seriously enjoyed my time at Paulton Rovers. We’ve had some tremendous ups and downs over the years! Probably the highest was Norwich City in the FA Cup in 2009 and a trip to Jersey in the FA Vase in 1992. Lots of wonderful memories and I am now delighted that the club has regained its Southern League status and wish them well in the future.
