Rovers positive pre season continues

Paulton overcame the first half loss through injury of captain Charlie Hitchings and influential midfielder Brad Abrahams against a combative Longwell Green.

Ben Bament sent through youngster Shorney shooting into the side netting.

Rovers went ahead on 16 minutes as Jacob Sloggett raced down the left passsed defender and crossed for Bament to score with an overhead bicycle kick at the second attempt.

Paulton keeper Joe Perry twice saved well from Buckwell and then Welling whilst the visitors responded as Bament set up Sloggett whose low drive was held by Powell.

The second half saw a neat move as Bament's through sub Ed Butcher whose chip over Powell was a little to firm and sailed over the bar.

Rovers added a second goal as Bament threaded through for Sloggett to stride down the left and slot home through Powell's leg.

Bryan hit the crossbar for the home side but Paulton's subs Eli Nichols and Shea Benningham-Mannings both had glorious chances to add to the score.

Rovers now play at Keynsham Town on Saturday kick off 3-00 pm. The planned home game for Friday 2 August has been cancelled by opponents Chipping Sodbury Town who are going through a crisis. Paulton manager John Rendell is seeking to organising a replacement and possibility one more friendly before the league season starts on 17 August.
