PAULTON PRODIGIES GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH WITH COMPREHENSIVE VICTORY OVER WELLS CITY. (match report by Josh Hurst)

Paulton were desperate to get the game started at Wells City FC, after only playing one game since the start of the new year. Despite the lack of recent fixtures, the team started the game well and were moving the ball quickly across the pitch.
A lot of chances were created early on, however the visitors struggled to find the back of the net and it wasn’t until Mason Harrison was brought down inside the penalty box that Paulton took the lead, a well taken penalty from Lucas Hawkins.
Paulton continued to combine well as a team across the pitch and Ali Sen was next on the scoresheet finding himself with just the keeper to beat and firing the ball right into the top corner of the net.
Wells did manage a few good counter- attacks but the Paulton defence stood firm and dealt with the pressure well to keep Paulton in control of the game.
Blaine Lawrence was next on the score sheet for Rovers which was soon followed by another goal, this time Mason rounding of a great team move to make it 4-0 at the break.
Wells came back out from the break full of energy, and Paulton were finding it tougher to break through the home team. However consistent pressure from Lewis Bond-Kendall in the centre of the pitch paid off when he won the ball back high up and slipped the ball through for Ali Sen to get his 2nd goal of the game, 5-0.
This was shortly followed up with another goal, Lewis finding himself with the ball at his feet on the edge of the box finishing well into the bottom corner. Moments later, Lewis was unlucky not to score again when he hit a 30-yard volley that whistled past the post.
A shame for the home side who had shown fantastic character in the beginning of the second half.
Paulton continued to show their dominance on the night and managed to grab one more goal before the full time whistle, another fantastic team move, this time finished from close range by Ali Sen to complete his Hat-Trick and make the final score, 7-0. A very professional performance from the young Paulton side who had 6 x U16’s playing on the night.
