Both teams began in lively fashion despite neither team really troubling the opposition keeper too much. The first real chance for Rovers came from the penalty spot in the 11th minute. When put clear through, Joe Morgan was brought down just inside the area and with the referee and linesman in no doubt, the penalty was given. Kye Simpson stepped up to take but the Corsham keeper made a good save to prevent the opening goal.

The stalemate was eventually broken in the 26th minute when some fine work by Olaoluwakitan Jaiyeoba in beating two men on the left and placing in an accurate low cross to the penalty spot, found David O'Hare who swept the ball into the the net.

The second came in the 41st minute when Kye Simpson picked up the ball on the righthand side of the area and placed in a looping cross to Joe Morgan who hadn't been picked up by the Corsham defence. The keeper got a hand to the snap shot but couldn't get enough on the ball to stop it rolling over the line.

Corsham became more dangerous in the second half and had several spells of pressure on Rovers' defence but Neil Martin marshalled the back four to prevent a comeback. Rovers' had to wait until the 75th minute for the third when Kye Simpson was neatly found about 30 yards out. He charged his way into the right side of the box and, under pressure from the Corsham defence, found the bottom lefthand corner of the net with a shot from a tight angle.

After a number of changes, and perhaps with one eye on not getting injuries, Rovers seemed to release their 'foot off the gas' a little which allowed Corsham to have another spell of their own. In the 85th minute they won a penalty which was comfortably put away.

But Rovers responded immediately when, after winning a free kick half-way into Corsham's half, Neil Martin delivered a cross which the Corsham keeper fumbled under pressure, dropping the ball to Leo Eglin who made space and hit the back of the net. All in all, it was a comfortable run out for Rovers against a team currently performing very well themselves.

Having won all but one of the preseason fixtures and showing some bright moments of promise, the Rovers faithful should look forward to the upcoming season with some confidence!
