Let's keep our fingers crossed that this weeks forecast for continued rain isn't what it seems so we can finally see some football again! Our destination on Saturday is Ivybridge Town for our second attempt at playing the quarter-final of the Les Phillips Cup.
Our hosts currently sit in 12th in the league table on 29 points and prior to beating Helston in the last round, had an excellent 4-1 win over Torpoint in the previous round of this cup competition. In their four games before the Helston match, they have won one (against Street) and lost three. Kai Burrell is their top goal scorer.
Our last game took place on the 3rd January and was the excellent 3-0 over Clevedon Town; arguably, our performance of the season so far. Since then, we all our fixtures have been postponed due to either freezing or very wet pitches! The break will have given the players some good mid-season rest but we hope it won't have disrupted the momentum of the team. Previous cup rounds have given Kieran Baggs the chance to use the whole squad and so it remains to be seen how the team will line-up this week. This will be our first meeting of the season with Ivybridge after our first league match was postponed.
There is a coach running to Ivybridge leaving the club at 10:00am. If you'd like to travel, please leave your name on the list at the club. Spaces are limited. The fare is £13 (£12 for members) and £6 for U18s.
