In the shadow of the Cardiff City stadium, Rovers took on Penybont FC of the Cymru Premier in their final pre-season fixture. It was clear from the opening minutes that this was going to be a very tough fixture as the Welsh team moved the ball around quickly and neatly. They dominated the first half with Paulton rarely getting a sniff of their opponents goal.

The deadlock was broken in the 24th minute with a well taken strike from outside the box and the lead was doubled in the second half (59th minute) with another shot from outside the box.

The second goal seemed to perk up Rovers and they began to push forward more. A chance fell for Brandon Bak before Krystian Woods was played though in the 68th minute and, holding off a defender, he was able to slot home. Rovers continued to push but without threatening too much until Brandon Bak had a shot that the keeper needed to stop right on the final whistle.

The difference between the two teams was clear but Rovers can certainly take away a hard fought performance and a well taken goal against a team placed much higher up the league structure.
