Rovers began their pre-season schedule with an away trip to Thornbury Town of the Hellenic Premier League.

A number of new faces joined the squad and were given a good workout on a very windy afternoon.

Rovers controlled much of the first half, limiting the hosts to a couple of chances that were dealt with well by the keeper. Rovers themselves created five or six good chances and should have had the lead but for rusty finishing!

The second half opened quickly with Tom Beeson picking up the ball on the left before making his way into the box to slot home.

Thornbury responded quickly though and grabbed the equaliser after some sloppy defending. A very well taken free kick from outside the box gave the hosts the lead soon after.

Rovers needed to respond and Jamarni Langlais hit the post after a good run. The chance fired up the visitors and Langlais grabbed his goal with an almost carbon copy chance soon after.

He nearly grabbed a second with a spectacular scissor kick and after another good run down the left, created one last chance for Rovers that was put just wide on the final whistle.

All in all, it was a promising performance but with lots of work to do yet!
