Rovers ended their pre-season schedule with a hastily arranged fixture with Bristol City’s Under 21 team. The supporters were treated to a game that saw plenty of action.

The City lads were extremely well drilled as you’d expect from a Championship side and moved the ball around with purpose right from the off. The opener came for the visitors in the 9th minute when a mistake at the back allowed a forward to stroke into an open net.

Rovers hit back in the 15th minute after a good move down the right ended with Brandon Bak holding off a defender in the box to turn and fire home.

The hosts gained some momentum and in the 29th minute took the lead when Bak grabbed his second. This time a well struck low shot from the edge of the box.

City equalised soon after; jumping on some poor defending leaving a player unmarked at the far post to nod the ball in.

Unfortunately, it was some lack defending again that allowed City to take the lead early in the second half as a good run and cross on the left was turned in from close range by another unmarked player.

Although that was the end of the goals, both teams could have added to their total before the game ultimately ended.

It was another good workout for the team against top opposition and despite the loss, the lads should gain a lot of confidence from the performance.

The season gets underway on Saturday in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round!
